Hiking? Skiing? Snow? Magnificent mountains? Little quint village? Adventure? Does it appeal to you? Grindelwald is a small little town located South East of Interlaken; Bernese Alps (about 30 mins drive). You can either stay a night or do a day trip. The drive from Interlaken to Grindelwald was amazing! You will not be disappointed. Set off early so you will have the whole day at the little quint Grindelwald town, the Mountain of First and Pfingstegg. Lots of adventure and fun awaits you! This is one of my Favorite Mountain I've visited as there's so much to do! One day isn't enough. This mountain is recommended for the adventure seeking! First Mountain (2168m) Mountain of First offers plentiful adventure such as Zipline (First Fleiger), Mountain Cart, Trottibike Scooter, Cliff Walk, Paragliding, Alpine Playground, Hiking Trail, Skiing and the Bachalpsee Lake. To get to First Mountain, you can either hike up or take a cable car. The cable car station is right in the middle of Grindelwald. The cable car are spilt 3 ways, such as you can pay to go down the mountain in another way (Zipline, Mountain Cart & Trottibike). You can purchase an Adventure Pass that includes all 3 rides at a cheaper price. As for me, I am only interested in the Zipline (800m long @ 84km/h), hence I only purchased for the cable car and the Zipline ticket; 79CHF. The Zipline only brings you down to the middle station of Schrekfeld. Would totally recommend the Zipline! Thrill seeking with a fantastic view! There are many hiking trails as shown in the map. Because I want to Zipline down the mountain. I choose the loop trail from First - Bachalpsee Lake - First. You can try the trail from Bachalpsee Lake to Trail no. 4 to Waldspitz down to Bort (shown in map). You will never regret hiking down part of the mountain. Either way is good. To reach to Bachalpsee Lake, just follow the signs and everyone is going to the same direction. You won't get lost. This hiking trail is one of the easiest as it's on dirt and flat ground, less rocks but uphill. You can bring some snacks and have a picnic by the lake when you arrive. If you're more adventurous and want to get away from the crowd, do continue your journey to Bort! I have not hiked down yet. I've heard great things about the hike. I wish to do so the next time I visit Grindelwald. I know I won't be disappointed. And neither do you! (: Pfingstegg (1391m) Pfingstegg is a smaller mountain located 15 mins walk from Grindelwald. At the time I was visiting Switzerland, I wanted to visit Kandersteg for the Alpine Slide! However the website stated it has cease summer operation on 30th September 2016. So I had to look for an alternative and Pfingstegg offers a shorter Alpine Slide. P.S. (not as fun and view isn't as nice, but it's an alternative!) Little did I know, KANDERSTEG WAS STILL OPERATING! (I drove there to check it out, however the bad weather was coming in and I decided not to go up the mountain of Kandersteg). Perhaps the next time. Back to Pfingstegg, the view at the top of this smaller mountain was really magnificent as well! Feels like I'm looking at a real life scenery painting in a opened space museum. Please try the Alpine slide too
