There are few mountains you can hike in Bali. Mt Agung (3031m). Two other mountains are Mt Caldera (1730m) and Mt Batur (1717m). I've been up to the surroundings of Mount Agung for the Besakih Temple - Pura Besakih. This temple is the largest Hindu temple in Bali located in the village of Besakih. Beautiful temple surrounded with breathtaking views of Bali countryside. FYI - You have to be physically fit to hike up Mount Agung (3,031m). Mount Agung is quite a challenging mountain to hike. You can stop over at Penelokan for lunch before continuing your journey to the mountain/accommodation. It has a fantastic view of Mt Batur! (image below) I stayed at Jero Wijaya Lakeside Cottages and you can go for a night soak at Batur Natural Hot Spring nearby. Mt Caldera (1730m) has an easier hike as there are villages and people living on this mountain. Path are easier, flat and wide. Took me about 1.5 hours to slowly take my time to hike up. Views from Mt Caldera Mt Batur (1717m) is more challenging. Steeper and narrow pathway. You have to get a local guide to bring you up. They will pick you up at about 3am to the base of the mountain and start hiking from then on. It will be pitch black and vision will be limited by small torches. But remember to look up; Million of Stars! Took me about 2.5 hours to hike up. When you reach the top, you will catch one of the most spectacular sunrises of your life. You can explore the carter before it's time for you to head back down to Batur's base. Sunrise from Mt Batur & Steepness of the mountain
