I did not know India was such a lovely place! I instantly fell in love with the city. Maybe cause it's a smaller city than those bigger ones (Delhi, Bombay), it feels more homely and slow paced. I'm a person who love laid-back, non city life, ruins, ancient, undeveloped, grass, mountains, ocean, sightsee, relax, chill.. I believe city just looks like any other cities in the world. Since I do not know how to speak or read Hindi, bus and train was quite inconvenient for me. Hence I just took a tuktuk & uber everywhere I go. Generally people in Ahmedabad are friendly and I do not feel harassed by anyone. In fact, I felt like I was a celebrity! Everyone wanted to take photo with me! Perhaps cause I'm fairer and more exotic and they seldom see foreigners? HAHA! Ain't sure who the real tourist are. Me or them? scroll/click small icons for more image views of slide show Adalaj Stepwell was just stunning! It's an Indo-Islam fusion architecture. I did not want to leave the place. I just felt like sitting there and enjoying it. I also had fun climbing everywhere. I've also visited the Sarkhej Roza Mosque. The architecture was magnificent. It looks like the Acropolis of Ahmedabad. You have to dress appropriately and there's an entrance fee upon arrival. It felt like a maze and every corner leads you to a different path. Very magical indeed. One security guard was kind enough to unlock a door that leads to a back alley and we walked through into an open top and enclosed area. Although I've yet to visit Greece and Istanbul. I feel like this Mosque kinda like a substitute of a combination of both! scroll/click small icons for more image views of slide show |
